Etzel Engineer and Build is one of the premier design-build contractors serving the mission critical industry. We are located in Saxonburg, Pennsylvania. With our roots dating back to 1987, our annual revenues continue to grow, now exceeding $20,000,000.
As a Western Pennsylvania local general contractor, Etzel Engineer and Build has built strong relationships with subcontractors and equipment vendors serving the area. These relationships allow us to better understand the local subcontractors’ capabilities and match-up these capabilities with the project’s unique requirements. These relationships also allow Etzel Engineer and Build to better understand the local bid market and allow us to recognize who is aggressively looking for work; thus a more aggressive bid process will reduce the overall construction cost.

Etzel Engineer and Build is recognized as a Leader in Design-Led, Design-Build Construction. We start out with a solid design and build from there. A well-coordinated, comprehensive set of construction documents designed around pre-purchased equipment, combined with an aggressive bid process, is the foundation required for a successful project. In high-reliability infrastructure, the design must minimize single points of failure, allow for systems to be concurrently maintainable, and provide redundancy as a priority.
With Etzel Engineer and Build being recognized for our strong professionally led general contracting capabilities; we believe we have assembled an all-inclusive design-build team.
As a regional Merit Shop General Contractor, Etzel Engineer and Build implements a “Best Practices” approach to design and construction. This process, when executed properly, leads to enhanced project performance, enabling us to achieve safety, quality, schedule, and owner satisfaction in a cost-effective manner. This approach is built on a delivery method which focuses on strong communication, requiring us to utilize all the tools at our disposal to ensure effective sharing of information among all team members.
We understand and value the importance of working as a team… with the owner, with the design professional, and with the subcontractors…to deliver a high-quality project with strong systems’ performances. To build a long-lasting client relationship demands that we not only provide a high-level of service, but also a greater level of attention to detail. We believe this is best represented by the fact that more than 85% of our work is with repeat clients. We believe this large percentage of repeat work illustrates the fact that our clients both understand and appreciate the value Etzel Engineer and Build adds to their construction team.
With Etzel Engineer and Build leading the design and construction process, combined with strong coordination between ourselves and the owner, clients will be able to minimize the time spent by key employees during the construction process. While the owner’s involvement is still necessary, the approach taken by Etzel Engineer and Build makes the most efficient use of the owner’s time.
